Beyond Walls article for Inside Indonesia

Beyond Walls was invited by international magazine Inside Indonesia to write an article on Afterlives of Revolution. In this piece for the special edition Beyond Walls dove deeper into the process of directing and producing the film portrait series Afterlives of Revolution and the underlying motivations for highlighting personal stories of the Revolution’s aftermath. It points to the tension between personal and national identities. And how the personal is always deeply political, especially when marginalized and oppressed histories that do not fit or challenge the Dutch and Indonesian grand narratives.
